Managing Talent in Indian Advertising: CNBC on the Deloitte Survey 2010

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

I think Charles Cadell, the CEO of Lowe Lintas India, makes some pertinent and insightful comments on the need for  clear cut  job descriptions at all levels.

This should pave the way for well defined Key Result Areas leading to focused efforts and therefore better performance. It also aids in better tailored training programs which should equip the resource for the next level. This would mean designations which reflect the ability endowed in the incumbent and the responsibility shouldered. Consequently a  heirarchy would emerge, which matches those in other organizations and hopefully brings in migration of genuine talent apart from retaining it within the industry .

Lowe seems to have done a comprehensive audit of its human resources under Charles and the recent organizational restructuring changes reported in the media must be an off shoot of this.

It is also heartening to note that Charles and the  Lowe management realize the importance of allowing employees to develop interests  such as painting, music , photography , filmmaking, travel etc  which should help them  retain their freshness and nurture their professional talent and outlook.
